Christophe Barthes de Ruyter was born in Paris in 1975. He lives and works in Paris.
A graduate of the École Boulle in Paris and having a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Central Saint Martin's in London, Christophe Barthes de Ruyters has had a brilliant theatre career as a scenographer, actor and director. Between 2006 and 2008 he worked as an assistant for Macha Makeieff'?s at the Opéra comique in Paris.
His painting talent was been noticed recently at the Montrouge Salon. His work was an absolute revelation, remarkably elegant and profound.
?"My drawings are cuts, they are dissections of a supposed, imagined anatomy, they come from the desire to look beyond the reflection; beyond the cellular interpretation we have of our bodies, so beyond the clichés, the mirror of the skin, the flesh. They can be read from the microscopic to the macroscopic level, their matter is the infinity. Sometimes they can be followed as a deconstructed action, as sequences that can be observed live.
For some, red has appeared. That?'s when perceptions and mental elaborations occur. Armed to fight, cells that are ready to explode, bodies in mutation, microcosm, they all remind us of our excess, the impossibility to understand it and the temptation to keep trying to do it.?"
