Presentation

Franck Maës was born in Brazzaville in 1962. He spent his childhood and part of his adolescence successively in Congo, Cameroon and Kenya.

The return to France is difficult. After graduating, he was just nineteen when he returned to Africa to become a safari guide, a passionate profession he still exercises today.

His Maasai friends have always nicknamed him "Mbwa Mwitu" which means "the lycaon or wild dog". It is this nickname that inspired his signature.

This quarter of a century spent in the bush rubbing shoulders with wildlife and the Maassai whose language he speaks has left an indelible mark on Franck Maës.

Through his paintings, he testifies and seeks to share his passion for these superb animals and these peoples with customs that have remained authentic.

After a first collection intended for sale, painted in oils with only three different colors, Franck discovers acrylic painting and embarks on a new adventure since 2011, thanks to a friend who knew his watercolors and had ordered a very colored.
