Biography
Lucas Arruda is a Brazilian artist. Born in São Paulo in 1983, he received his BFA in 2009 from Faculdade Santa Marcelina.
Arruda's falsely abstracted landscapes are reconstructed from his memories. His muted color palette and textured brushwork imbue his paintings with a sense of mystery as he explores gaze and light.
Arruda has exhibited in several international institutions and his paintings can be found in the permanent collections of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Rubell Museum, the Fondation Beyeler, and the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo.
