Birth of Henri, Marie-Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Montfa in Albi, in the "Hôtel du Bosc". Son of the Count of Toulouse-Lautrec and Countess Adèle, Zoé, Marie, Marquette Tapié de Céleyran, Lautrec bears one of the biggest names in France and his vocation as an artist surprises his family a little.
1879
After a first fracture in one leg, Lautrec breaks the other leg due to spontaneous fractures that prevent his lower limbs from developing. He remains crippled.
1881
He stopped his studies and turned to the studio of the academic painter Bonnat on the advice of his first teacher, Princeteau. He began to take an interest in Japanese art and left Bonnat's studio for Cormon's the following year.
1884
He freed himself more and more from academism and settled in Montmartre in the heart of nightlife.
1885
Aristide Bruant opens the Le Mirliton cabaret. Lautrec frequents the cabarets of Montmartre.
1891
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec exhibits at Le Barc de Boutteville, with Anquetin, Emile Bernard, Pierre Bonnard and Maurice Denis. He signed his first poster which made him famous: Moulin-Rouge (La Goulue).

Lautrec made a poster for his friend Jane Avril, dancer in the French cancan quadrille; he also represented her in the Japanese Divan, in Jane Avril au Jardin de Paris, 1893, and in a last poster Jane Avril in 1899. Lautrec made the first poster of the Bunting series, Aristide Bruant aux Ambassadeurs.

He entered the world of the Revue Blanche and became familiar with the Natanson brothers, Tristan Bernard and Romain Coolus. He regularly attended brothels and developed a passion for the theater.

La Goulue asks him for a setting for his fairground hut, travels with his friend Joyant to London where he meets Oscar Wilde and Whistler.

He moved to 30, rue Fontaine and traveled by boat with his friend Joyant to Lisbon (La passenger du 54). He is passionate about cycling and follows Tristan Bernard in the velodromes.
