Originally from Briançon in the high Alps, Nicolas Raynaud grows in an exceptional natural setting. He develops his artistic sensibility which, combined with his scientific appetence,lead him to architecture.
Today, he reinterprets the age-old theories of that discipline through his works. His artistic research focuses on volumes, matter and light, working together for a design with pure and transparent aesthetics.
The PRISM series deals with the question of the artifact. The volume is simple, the material alive.
It is a monolith stemming from nature, robust and minimalist. Then comes running on its surface the trace of an artificial act: lines that cross, curl, bend, or long. Structured or chaotic, geometrical or organic, they run through the volume like wounds. They are thick or thin, independent and or solidarity within a larger context.
They are all different and however united by this same energy, luminous, which pierces the whole and unearths the richness.
