I received my first camera when I was 11 years old. It is from this moment that photography naturally took a place in my life.
As a child I dreamed of Africa, its wide open spaces, lions, elephants, all the animal species that inhabit the savannah. It was many years later, in 2006, in the course of my work, that I went to meet him. I was then able to discover its majestic landscapes and more particularly those of Tanzania where I had the privilege of living for four years. To photograph is to write, to draw with light and for me it is also a way of transcribing atmospheres and emotions that are sometimes invisible to the naked eye.
For the past 30 years, I have lived in different parts of the world: North America, Middle East. Northern Europe, Eastern Africa and North Africa. From all these lives spent abroad, I understood that everything is looked at, everything is observed, because with the benevolence of our gaze, everything is revealed to us, to us. Today, despite its great resistance and powerful resilience, this extraordinary nature suffers greatly from the impact of men. I see that everything can stop very quickly, too quickly. Many animal species have completely disappeared or are on the verge of extinction due to the reduction of their territories, climatic disturbances and poaching of which they are victims. This is why, so that we can all continue to marvel at the beauty of our planet, to contemplate its oceans, to admire the flora and fauna that surround us, to dream of this Africa so beautiful but so fragile that I I decided to pay tribute to nature through a photography committed to the protection of the environment. All the benefits of the book-portfolio “Rencontres en terre africaine" published in March 2020 are intended for these foundations.
