Adusu's style was inspired by the spontaneous patterns of military camouflage. The tactile and highly structured impressions of his characters symbolize the algorithm of life's struggles and experiences, the ups and downs that make up our identity. Using brushes, oils or acrylic paints mixed with modeling paste, Adusu embellishes his canvases with true stories of the people around him and the African diaspora.Richard Adusu sporadically inserts landscapes into the foreground, which subjectively serve as a reminder of his childhood memories. He creates impressions that capture the pure energy, honesty and intensity of his subjects, with power flowing kinetically through their bodies.Adusu's paintings convey a contemporary Africa in full and bold expression, depicting scenes from history, current culture, political/entertainment and sporting events worldwide, presented with pride.Images of iconic figures from Black history alongside those of ordinary people striving for excellence such as families, friends, loved ones and strangers. Politically, he is concerned with the exploration of Africa lives from a perspective of dignity, which is why he often places leaders, activists, sports icons, actors alongside ordinary people. His style of using large canvases allowed him to show his explorations of the African diaspora with strong visual elements.Richard Adusu's works have been collected by many galleries, prominent and high-profile personalities from home and abroad.
