Maestro Miori Odamaki

I was born in a traditional family which has "Buke" as an ancestor in Tokyo, JAPAN. I grew up in a Japanese traditional rule, and also learning "Sadō ( Japanese tea ceremony )", "Buyō ( traditional Japanese performing art )" and "Kadō ( Japanese art of flower
arrangement)". On the other hand, I went to an art school and classic music school in western way in childhood. So for me, it was natural daily life, touching Japanese traditional culture and European academic education. I guess, it is my painting's root.
First of my career, I worked as a Jewelry designer. I was in the most biggest pearl company, my clients were Jim Jarmusch, Johnny Depp and many VIPs, also awarded the International Pearl Design Contest. On the other hand, I had kept to paint works. One day, I decided to retire a Jewelry designer to start career as a painter. That is not only

a reason but when I worked with TOMATO, and Steve who is their manager said to me “ You should choose career for a Painter" when he saw my paintings. Now my painter' s career is 9 years.

I have Joined “the much long communication of arts in this long history over 1000 years" by making my works. I have been trying to express inner face of human beings by paintings and doing some series of works which as called "Fantasy in the tangle", "Organic" and
"Confusion". I tried to continue making my works even not showing them. The process has not stopped if I finish one of my work, and the flow of the process will show me next one.

These accumulated process is all the artwork. Abstraction is come from communication to this world. It become a visual language. "Lines, Black and White" I have been use "Lines, Black and White". They weren't used often in western paintings, but they also are very familiar for me who are Japanese. We can express everything by "Lines, Black and white" even inner face in Japanese culture. it is inevitability of culture and history that I use them in abstract expression. I keep making works and communicate them, and keep going this such a long journey.
