Expressionism Paintings for Sale

The Expressionist painting is a major artistic movement of the early 20th century, characterized by a desire to represent intense and subjective emotions rather than objective reality. Originating mainly in Germany around 1905, Expressionism emerged as a reaction to the social, political, and cultural upheavals of its time, notably the anxiety towards modernity and the First World War. The movement has deeply influenced modern art history and continues to inspire many contemporary artists.

Expressionist painting emphasizes an exploration of the human condition, a questioning of existence, and a rejection of realism in favor of an inner, sometimes unsettling representation that invites the viewer to an intense emotional experience.
