He is originally from Strasbourg (born in 1986).
He began painting in the spring of 2021 and was fortunate enough to be exhibited a few months later.
His first Strasbourg exhibition was a success. The exhibition sold out.
Nitram paints mainly in acrylics.
If we had to describe his style, we would probably classify it as street art, free figuration or raw street art.
He mixes warm and cool colors in large formats. His paintings take on African and/or South American hues.
His subjects are bestiaries, historical or mythological scenes, theories or even great fantasies.
Mysticism, dreams, life, death and humor blend together through geometric shapes.
Its patterns, outlined in black and white, are reminiscent of certain artists from the 1980s/90s.
The ensemble creates pop scenes that are exuberant and psychedelic, sometimes disturbing. Some powerful and violent scenes can also be very gentle.
“Lively, sometimes violent, always vibrant"
“It rocks, it pulses, it rocks!"
Hervé Lévy (editor-in-chief of Poly magazine)
Nitram has been immersed in the world of antiquarian bookselling for the past 20 years. He is the founder of La Jument Verte, a bookstore specializing in the appraisal and sale of rare and antiquarian books from the 15th to the 20th century.
His graphic works are imbued with codes from the world of printing, illustration and old engraving.
It is inspired by stories and engravings from old books.
There's always a story to tell, or a reference to Nitram's paintings. Currently on display at the Galerie Maïlyn Bruniquel.
