This exhibition directly addresses the most recent work of renowned performance artist María José Arojona represented by our gallery.
The images are the result of a large-scale project in which the artist integrated herself into natural environments. Arjona uses her body as a central instrument to explore philosophical, social, and environmental concerns, blurring the boundaries between the physical self and its environment.

"Navigating: Presence and Resistance" captures the essence of Arjona's practice and its underlying conceptual framework. The "Presence" evokes the enduring nature of her works and the emphasis on the immediate, lived experience of the body in a space. The "Resistance" alludes to her use of poetic gestures and exploration of themes such as borders, migration, and power structures, offering a subtle yet powerful form of political and social commentary and the idea of "navigating" suggests her body's journey through time and space, and its active interaction with these complex issues.
