Biography
An explorer of memory, Magalie Darsouze draws, with her lead pencil, moments of life drawn from personal or borrowed photographic sources.
In this imaginary album, historical events, everyday scenes, family portraits, moments of conviviality and reminiscences of deceased beings form a collective memory where the indelible, the ephemeral and oblivion manifest themselves through distortion, overexposure and erasure.
From these different storylines, the viewer draws on their own memories, picked from different time periods, lived or recounted, fictional or real.
By blending the universal and the intimate, Magalie Darsouze manages to reactivate the past while leaving us the freedom to question our place in relation to these projected images.
Magalie Darsouze studied visual arts at the Michel Montaigne University of Bordeaux.
His works have been disseminated in Nouvelle Aquitaine and throughout France as part of residencies, collective creations and solo exhibitions.
