Biography
ISIS SANAÏTIS develops a pictorial practice focused on domestic interiors, conceived as indirect representations of inner life. Her work is based on a simple idea: “what matters is on the inside.”
The spaces she paints are generally devoid of human figures. Yet a presence remains perceptible through the objects, colors, arrangement of the rooms, and perspectives. The interior thus becomes an indirect portrait of the person who might inhabit it: a presence constructed through absence.
Objects are not merely decorative elements. They contribute to the construction of these mental spaces and suggest a personality, a story, or an inner state without representing them directly. Colors and perspectives, sometimes deliberately shifted or distorted, also contribute to this transformation of domestic space.
Some works extend beyond the canvas through a three-dimensional or ceramic element taken directly from the painted composition and placed near the artwork. This displacement gives physical presence to something that previously belonged only to the represented space. The sculpture then becomes a representation of the “self” observing its own interior.
ISIS SANAÏTIS has notably presented her work at art fairs such as Art3F.
