Mélanie Bourget is a French sculptor, born in 1972.
Human being is the main theme is in Bourget's sculptures. Her "Raku" work is an ancient Japanese technique, to which Melanie adds a very contemporary aspect, sometimes out of sync, a mix of realism and humor.
In her sculptures, the image of the woman is often revisited, and is serious or mysterious. Bourget's head and shoulder portraits always portray women with alluring hair-styles, smiling or in a discussion with other women or the spectator, with an obvious hint of humor.
All of Melanie Bourget's work are created in ceramic, the Raku technique gives them a "broken" look, which highlights their weakness.
