Biography

Sevim Kockaya, born in 1980 in Germany, is a German contemporary artist known as Randompaintress. Her work is mainly in the field of contemporary abstraction, with vibrant, expressive, and deeply intuitive compositions. A relatively recent artist on the contemporary scene, she has made a name for herself with a pictorial approach based on the freedom of gesture, spontaneity, and trust in chance. Rather than starting from a fully planned composition or a preconceived idea, Sevim Kockaya allows her materials, colors, and subconscious impulses to participate in the creation of the work. This method gives rise to free and spontaneous paintings, in which the energy of the gesture and chromatic interactions occupy a central place.

The artist herself describes her art as an optimistic and discreet presence intended to bring color into life and to give the viewer a positive sensation, comparable to a "visual embrace". She defines her style through three notions: luminous, atmospheric, and warm. Her sources of inspiration are linked to everyday moments that possess a particular energy and the emotions evoked by color plays. Sunrises and sunsets, in particular, are important references for her. This attention to light and chromatic variations contributes to the identity of her colored abstract paintings.

Spontaneity is however only a starting point. Sevim Kockaya has a true mastery of the balance between chaos and control: her compositions combine vibrant colors, dynamic forms, and precise visual organization. This tension between chance and construction allows her works to retain a sense of freedom while presenting plastic coherence. Her work is thus particularly appreciated by lovers of abstract art, seduced by her bold and uncomplex approach to painting.

Sevim Kockaya's career includes an exhibition in Genoa, Italy, where she participated in the collective exhibition "Who am I?", organized from October 21 to November 4, 2022 by Divulgarti Eventi at the Palazzo Ducale of Genoa. The exhibition brought together notably Mario Inverardi, Sevim Kockaya, Andreea Marinescu, and Dalia around an artistic reflection dedicated to identity and the question "Who am I?".

Her work has also been presented in the design and lifestyle magazine House & Garden, contributing to making her universe known beyond the contemporary art market. Her artistic activity is developed in parallel under the pseudonym Randompaintress, a name that well summarizes her relationship with chance, spontaneity, and experimentation.

Through gestural abstraction, color abstraction, and a painting centered on the energy of colors, Sevim Kockaya builds a warm and luminous visual universe. Her works seek less to represent the world than to transmit a sensation, an atmosphere, or an emotion born from the encounter between colors and matter. This pursuit makes Sevim Kockaya an emerging contemporary artist whose practice is based on intuition, creative freedom, and the emotional power of color.
