PAMELA WILSON (1954 - ): Pamela Wilson is an American contemporary painter known primarily for haunting, psychologically charged figurative paintings that explore isolation, memory, dreams, and the complexities of human experience. Born in New York City in 1954, she earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976 and later an M.A. in Art History, Theory and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also earned an MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received a Regents Fellowship and other honors. Wilson works primarily in oil but has also explored photography, printmaking, and assemblage. Her paintings frequently depict solitary or enigmatic figures within unusual, dreamlike environments, combining meticulous draftsmanship with atmospheric color and surreal imagery. Since 1992, her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States, including at the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Arnot Art Museum, and has been featured in numerous gallery exhibitions.
