Description

In Bacchus Leopardum Vectus (Bacchus riding a leopard), Romain Hurdequint explores fabric as an extension of his sculptural work. Here, the material becomes surface, relief, and memory. Threads intertwine and overlap, creating patterns that evoke both ancient mosaics and the textures of the urban landscape.

This piece continues his exploration of contemporary relics, evoking fragments, traces, and layers of time that shape our material world. Traditionally seen as fragile or decorative, fabric is transformed under his hand into a symbolic, almost archaeological medium.

Bacchus Leopardum Vectus (Bacchus riding a leopard) speaks of passage, memory, and the quiet beauty of simple forms. As an echo to his skateboard-based sculptures, it questions the boundary between craft and art — between the everyday and the timeless.

Presentation

Fabrica Minervae is a textile artist whose work explores the material and symbolic heritage from antiquity to the present day. Inspired by art, archaeology, and ancient craftsmanship, she creates pieces that evoke fragments of lost objects, forgotten adornments, or imaginary artifacts. Her works, combining natural fibers, embroidery, and artisanal techniques, reinvent forms inherited from the Greco-Roman world while bringing a contemporary sensibility to them.

Through a meticulous and meditative practice, Fabrica Minervae questions our relationship to the past, transmission, and materiality. Her creations are part of a research process where memory, myth, and manual craftsmanship come together to give birth to poetic objects, steeped in history and meaning.

She regularly exhibits in museums and in artistic projects related to fictional archaeology, which she co-creates with the artist Rom av.JC.
