novembre18/2013 | Whimsical Treehouse with Cats at Sunset, 2013

Larissa Mayorova

A magical treehouse comes alive with tiny black cats, curious platforms, and delicate lights beneath a glowing pink sky. This imaginative oil artwork combines playful characters with an intricate woodland setting, creating a scene that feels like a fragment from an illustrated story.

Created as part of the 365 Days project (2013–2014), the artwork represents one day in a year-long creative journey. The artist produced 365 small artworks, later assembled into a monumental installation measuring approximately 7 × 3 meters and exhibited in historic venues and châteaux in Haute-Savoie, France.

Warm pink, peach, golden yellow, and earthy brown create a luminous background, while dark green branches and tiny black figures bring contrast and visual rhythm. The little cats, with their bright eyes and red feet, appear throughout the tree, inviting viewers to explore its platforms, ladders, and hidden corners.

The composition combines the spontaneity of expressive oil brushwork with the charm of imaginative storytelling. Although it forms part of a larger project, the artwork stands independently as a playful reflection of one particular day.

This original piece will appeal to collectors who appreciate whimsical figurative art, unusual animal imagery, and works connected to broader artistic projects. Its colorful atmosphere makes it an engaging accent for a contemporary living room, bedroom, reading corner, or creative space.

It also makes a distinctive gift for cat lovers, collectors of imaginative art, and anyone who enjoys stories told through small visual details.
