Description
Unique original artwork — 1/1
Rhythm of Kuda Lumping celebrates the vitality of cultural performance through bold colour, interwoven forms and expressive movement.
Farid Yudiatmoko Setjo places a large stylised horse on the left and a dancer on the right. Emerald green, turquoise and blue dominate the composition, meeting the warm reds, coral and white of the performer's garment.
The horse's elongated head provides a strong visual anchor. Pale contours trace its features, while layered strokes expand around it in sweeping curves. These passages carry the eye toward the dancer, whose composed face introduces a quieter rhythm within the surrounding energy.
Broad blue arcs connect the figures across the square canvas. Yellow accents bring light to the green and olive passages, while darker marks give depth to the forms. Smaller patterns and fragmented strokes enrich the surface, inviting closer attention.
The artist's description links the painting's rhythm with the musical and gestural energy of Kuda Lumping. The horse expresses vitality and agility; the performer embodies concentration, resolve and self-control. Together, they establish a dialogue between movement and composure.
This balance gives the work an emotional dimension beyond the scene itself. The dancer's calm suggests the discipline that supports expressive freedom, while the surrounding colour communicates the joy and intensity of participation.
The painting honours cultural resilience through a tradition kept active by those who perform and share it. Heritage becomes an experience of rhythm, skill and connection.
A handwritten dedication on the reverse celebrates the spirit, unity and enduring heritage of Nusantara culture. It concludes with the artist's wish that the work bring the vibrant energy of tradition into the collector's space.
With its generous square format and vivid contrasts, Rhythm of Kuda Lumping offers a distinctive focal point. Its figurative presence is immediately engaging, while the layered surface reveals further details through repeated viewing.

Presentation
Farid Yudiatmoko Setjo transforms the rhythm of Indonesian tradition into paintings filled with movement, colour and presence.
Based in Kawali, Ciamis, West Java, the artist draws inspiration from Kuda Lumping, its woven bamboo horses and the expressive energy of dance. Working in acrylic on canvas, he develops a visual language in which equine forms emerge through flowing lines, layered strokes and intricate ornamental passages.
Midnight blue, turquoise and emerald bring depth to his compositions. Earth tones, luminous whites and gold-coloured accents introduce warmth and contrast. Across this palette, the horse becomes an image of courage, dignity and togetherness.
His paintings explore the relationship between inherited culture and personal expression. In Woven Majesty, interlocking marks evoke the patience of craftsmanship; Intertwining Lines of Heritage develops the rhythm of woven structures; Desire and Soul considers the encounter between passion and inner balance.
Setjo graduated in English Literature from STIBA Malang in 2000. His experience spans artistic consultancy, teaching, artist management and community murals. He exhibited alongside Kartika Affandi in Surabaya in 2017 and participated in exhibitions in the Ciamis region in 2025 and 2026.
Founder of Katong Art Gallery since 2024, he combines his studio practice with a commitment to encouraging local talent. His work invites viewers to experience tradition as a living source of imagination and renewal.
