Description
In "Becoming rivers", I explore the relationship between natural movement and personal transformation through a circular abstract landscape inspired by flowing water.
Layers of silver, charcoal and warm golden tones form sinuous contours that converge and separate, recalling rivers and streams shaped by the terrain they cross. Their movement suggests how our lives develop through encounters, shared experiences and unexpected changes of direction.
I combine acrylic, natural sand and mineral pigments to create a richly textured surface with subtle metallic reflections. Light catches along the raised contours, revealing different passages as the viewer moves around the painting.
The circular format reinforces the idea of continuity, while the contrast between fluid lines and granular texture creates a balance between movement and material presence.
Through this original contemporary abstract painting, I invite viewers to consider transformation not as a single event, but as an ongoing process shaped by everything we encounter.

Presentation
Francesca Borgo (b. 1970) is an Italian abstract painter whose practice investigates liminal thresholds — the spaces between erosion and emergence, stillness and movement, self and other. Working with layered combinations of acrylic, sand, and mineral pigments, she creates atmospheric surfaces that evoke glaciers, mist, sedimented terrains, and states of emotional transition.
Her work is informed by a background in cognitive neuroscience and psychology, grounding her visual language in an exploration of perception, authenticity, and the subtle ways we grow and open ourselves to others while remaining rooted in who we are. Her paintings function as meditative thresholds, inviting viewers into a slower encounter with presence.
Borgo has exhibited widely in the United Kingdom, the United States, and recently Asia. Her work was shown at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition (London, 2022), and she has presented multiple solo booths at The Other Art Fair (Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London, Dallas). Additional presentations include the Affordable Art Fair New York, and the Incheon Art Show in South Korea.
Her works are held in private collections across Europe, North America, and Asia. She lives and works in Treviso, Italy.
