Description
Issue of a series, this work reinterprets a bas-relief drawn by architect Henry Jacques Le Même and sculpted by François Ganeau around 1950 for the Coudurier building in Chambéry.
Initially integrated into an architectural decorative program, this female figure belongs to a set designed around the duality of day and night.
Starting from an archival photograph, Adrianna MJW transposes the sculptural relief into a contemporary graphic language. The volumes fade in favor of assertive lines, contrasts, and colored surfaces.
Between figuration, architecture, and abstraction, the work explores the transformation of a historical decorative motif and its reappropriation in a new pictorial space.
dialogue with a second composition, extending this research around light, form, and representation.
