Artwork location: France
This artwork captures a moment of deep introspection. The image features a seated individual, leaning forward in a meditative pose. The fluid lines and subtle shades of black and gray reveal a mastery of contrast and light, giving the work a mood that is both understated and dramatic. The economy of detail highlights the essence of the posture, evoking heavy reflection or emotional weariness. The minimalist background directs attention to the central figure, emphasizing her isolation. Each brushstroke seems carefully calculated to convey the weight of the moment, making this work a poignant example of expressing human emotion through simplicity. Its ability to evoke an intimate connection with the viewer demonstrates remarkable psychological depth.

Presentation
Born in Bourges, the young woman became interested in painting very quickly.
After studying art history, she became a student of the painter Philippe Lejeune in Étampes in 1983.
His first solo exhibition in 1987 led to many others, just as the Prix Brizard from the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1988 was the first in a brilliant series (Taylor Foundation, Salon des artistes français, etc.).
In 1990, Nathalie Gobin won a two-year scholarship at Villa Velasquez in Madrid. She committed suicide in the Spanish capital in 1992, aged only 27.
She left behind nearly 300 oils, 400 drawings, sketches and engravings.
For three decades, her parents kept her work intact in their home. It was only very recently, after their deaths, that Nathalie's brother and sister decided to present her work to the public.
Bourges then dedicated an exhibition to her in 2024, which preceded an auction. In one day, the 280 paintings by Nathalie Gobin, who had never been listed, sold for between €500 and €7,000.
Today, of the 400 drawings listed, 27 are entrusted to My Gallery.
They depict portraits and studio scenes, in watercolor, charcoal, pencil or ink.
