Visualism - Peter Neusser's photographs are a strict work of pausing on the place, on the path and a glimpse of urban communication, in which mediation blocks something. The horizon is accessible in the urban jungle, not as a promise or a nostalgia in the distance, but rather as an accidental architectural lightening that it traverses the images. If the play between sharpness and blur promised contemplation a period of development or a path to take, then Neusser orients the promise of perspective towards the artificiality of the detail, or shall we say the shifted focus. Not for the identity of a city Neusser draws the portrait of the city of Munich, it is not a portrait either, one would look in vain for a replica, but the spectator fits gently into the text of the urbanity . In the picture, our insight is built, and Peter Neusser gets a construction that irritates the usual central perspective view and drives the midpoints to the marginalia. These photographs are fine movements, deployments of an intuition that requires architectural space as a point of reference for the development of time. The images compress the vertigo of movement and the rigidity of the construction to a truly daring glimpse of the Urban: We are distracted. If architecture is a coordination of interior and exterior space and a coordination of the atmosphere of both, then Peter Neusser photographs from the interior to the city center. Text by Hubert von Amelunxen

The major strength of photography as well as its major weakness is that it captures only a single moment: a certain pattern in a certain section under certain lighting conditions, taken over a certain period of time . Sixtieth of a second. Click on. Reality always shows more than a picture - left, right, above and below the chosen section. In a good photograph the invisible does not matter, in a shot it focuses reality on the character of a person, a building, a landscape. It's like a miracle: without delivering an entire image, the created image is always complete. It is of course essential that the motif can be photographed. It is essential that the character of the patterns can be concentrated in a single instant. It is essential that the photographer presses the shutter button at the right time. All these prerequisites restrict the medium of photography and constitute its major weakness. A little too late or too early, a little too much to the left or to the right, a little too light or too dark, a little too big or too small and instead of a self-explanatory picture the result would only be a chance missed.

Reality is fleeting. Peter Neusser solves this photography dilemma with his art. His “multiples” reconcile photography and reality. Instead of trying to portray reality, he simply captures it with his multiple exposures. It's an advantage, of course, that Peter Neusser is one of the few photographers who not only has an eye for the right motive and is able to think graphically, but he also has a complete technical knowledge of his medium. When photographing multiples, it is important to listen to your artistic soul and to be able to work with mathematical precision, just like Peter Neusser does. And as a result, he manages to do something that practically cannot be done: his works, always created using analog photography, capture not just a single moment, but stories and experiences.
