The great strength and at the same time the greatest weakness of photography is its ability to capture just one moment: a specific subject in a specific section under specific lighting conditions, captured in a specific period of time. The sixtieth of a second. Click.

Reality always shows more than one image - left, right, above and below the selected section. In a good photo, the invisible is irrelevant; it concentrates reality in one shot on the character of a person, a building, a landscape. It is like a miracle: without providing a whole picture, the resulting image is nevertheless complete. Of course, the essential thing is that the subject can be photographed at all. It is important that the character of the subject can be concentrated in a single moment. It is important that the photographer presses the shutter at the right moment. All of these conditions limit the medium of photography and are its great weakness. A little too late or too early, a little too far to the left or right, a little too light or too dark, a little too big or too small and instead of a self-explanatory image, the result would be just a missed opportunity.

Reality is fleeting. Peter Neusser solves this dilemma of photography with his art. His "multiples" reconcile photography and reality. Instead of trying to depict reality, he simply captures it with his multiple exposures. It is of course an advantage that Peter Neusser is one of the few photographers who not only has an eye for the right motif and can think graphically, but also masters the technology of his medium. When photographing multiples, it is important to both listen to your artistic soul and be able to work with mathematical precision - as Peter Neusser does. And so he succeeds in doing something that is actually impossible: his works, which are always created with analogue photography, capture not just a single moment, but stories and experiences.
