Presentation

Vladimir Skoda left Czechoslovakia in 1968 in order to devote himself to art. He apprenticed as a turner and this mathematically accurate craft was a perfect preparation for his artistic career. His fateful encounter with the French sculptor César Baldaccini at the École National Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris soon completed his search for a sculptural expression. Metal as a multifaceted material has dominated his work in various forms. Recently, he has moved from forging it in fire and using hammers to more sophisticated techniques of metal processing, honing spherical shapes to perfection. His favorite materials is stainless steel. The themes of his works are closely connected to Kepler's theories.
