Stéphanie Jouffret

Stéphanie Jouffret lives and works in Toulon. After a professional career rich in teaching and meetings, Stéphanie Jouffret assists Anne Cartier-Bresson, photography restorer at the Workshop for the Restoration and Conservation of Photographs of the City of Paris, where she is in charge of the traveling exhibition “Paris under the lens ”, then returned to the Galliera Museum, the City of Paris Fashion and Costume Museum, where she developed artistic activities for children in the museum's temporary exhibitions. In 2008, she moved to Toulon with her family and she devoted herself entirely to her passion. His abstract pictorial style offers prints made up of strata that divide a swarm of seemingly united plots. She lets paper come with its grain, its thickness and its brilliance the vertical or horizontal movement in an alchemy which gives a whole range of tone. The particles of a microcosm are added, superimposed in diffuse, soft and changing waves. The whole is at the same time delicate, refined, sensitive, harmonious. A meticulous work: the artist captures, in his work in progress, the time in an era in full acceleration while underlining the “transitory, the fugitive, the contingent” these categories which define modernity according to Baudelaire in the painter of life modern. Each piece of paper as a fixed measure of a time remaining yet fluent. The fragments, the slices of cut paper scattered in heaps then allow the establishment by collage of rhythmic series to organize the chaos at the heart of a painting. This silent poetry thus defined in the classical period; vegetable, mineral impressions and ephemeral vibrations of the movement of cities too, a whole aggregate of sensations aiming to pass from the discontinuous to a totality to come. The effect produced by the collages is close to a trembling, but after a first glance at the work we are caught by the background which unfolds like fractals which change with light over time.
