Presentation

Passionate about painting and art from a young age, Soly Levy spent all his free time painting and drawing. He attended the drawing workshops in evening classes in Montparnasse. His first paintings date from 1967.

After a short figurative period, the artist turned to the abstract. He paints mainly with lacquer, a technique he develops through his different canvases. After a period where he mainly used black, silver, and red, he opened to a much more colorful palette. He mainly focuses his technique on the gesture, spontaneity, and the lights of the Egypt of his childhood. Most of the time, Soly creates his paintings in a sort of emotional emergency. The color, the gesture carries the artist away and leads him towards this unknown which emerges from his unconscious.
