Always attracted by drawing, Sylvie Lescan has also developed a sensitivity for different forms of art, including photography and music, two forms of art that she has developed during her travels. But it was while experimenting with painting that a real passion was born, especially with the oil painting she has been practicing for a few years now.
It is a form of expression and commitment for her. Self-taught, when she paints, her brushes take control and she is only the intermediary between the canvas and her mind. It's a moment of freedom, a cocoon where there is nothing else but painting. This gives her a sense of serenity.
Her paintings are an opportunity for her to explore her two favorite themes. The first is the wildlife she wants to highlight the beauty, and raise awareness of the preservation of species. Involved in respect for nature and the environment, her goal is to give life and soul to these animals, to get as close as possible to the real and to show how important it is to safeguard their habitat, and to fight for their protection.
The second theme she likes to work on is the beauty of human bodies, regardless of race, whether male or female, focusing on sensuality.
Her goal is above all to transmit an emotion, not to leave indifferent, to give a soul to her paintings so that they live in the eyes of those who look at them.
She usually chooses her paintings according to the photographic heartbeat, sometimes she mixes several photos to have the right angle of vision, or the good gesture, then she reworks the lighting which for her is essential. Black and white has therefore imposed itself for some time, to sublimate reliefs, shapes, to play with contrasts and shadows, and let imagination fill the spaces left in the dark. It is a subtle balance between the eye and the mind, what we see and what we guess ....
Much more than just a hobby, painting has become indispensable to her life and her balance.
Sylvie Lescan has already had some personal exhibitions.
She also participated in the 25th art fair in Cazouls-les-Béziers in April 2019 and won the bronze medal. As well as the 13th painting show all techniques on rankart (pre-selection on 488 paintings).
