Carine Figueras

Carine Figueras is a French visual artist born in 1968 in Oullins near Lyon. A graduate of the National Institute of Applied Sciences, she first worked on leading major cultural projects: Louvre, Versailles, before discovering Asian art and calligraphy during an expatriation in Korea and China in 2005. She has devoted herself since to her artistic research. She trained with the painter Yan Kang Wen in Shanghai, the Belfort Art School, the Visual Art School Basel, the calligrapher Sanae Sakamoto in Basel and through regular visits to contemporary art exhibitions in Basel in particular. In 2013, she founded the Atelier de la Rue sur l'Eau. Since 2018 she has participated in several artist residencies in Portugal, India at the foot of the Himalayas and in Pune, in France in Lyon, thus continuing her research and exhibiting her installation work. She currently lives between India in Pune and France in Lyon. In India, she shares the studio of artists Rupali Patil and Prabhakar Pachpute, in France those of the Superposition association.
