Helena Jungermann (b. 1962) is an artist and designer, living and working in the Gothenburg area of Sweden. She has a long career in graphic design, but in recent years she has moved on to working primarily as a painter.
Helena is a member of The Swedish Artists' Association (KRO) and The Association of Swedish Illustrators and Graphic Designers (Svenska Tecknare). Helenas visual awareness arose at an early age. A lot of inspiration came from her mother, a well-established ceramist.
As soon as Helena could hold a pen she started to draw. Helena has been educated at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland and at College for Graphic Designers in Lund, Sweden. In her paintings on canvas or shaped wood, Helena explores the dynamics of geometrical shapes in interplay with colour. The work could be described as minimalistic with a touch of pop art. There is a three-dimensionality in the artworks, often “with a twist"; a slight built-in impossibility in the shapes.
