Bethan Ash is an English artist who lives and works in Cardiff, South Wales.
After studying textile design, she specialized in footwear design and obtained a degree in this field. She then started a career as a designer in the fashion industry.
After the birth of her son, she became interested in doing quilts, which she produced in a personal style since the 80s. Color plays a main role in her work and her creations are made of bright colored, abstract geometric shapes.
She hosted several conferences and workshops about contemporary techniques in quilt making and worked on diverse interactive projects at the Butetown History and Art Center as well as at the Owain Glyndwr Centernary Quilt.
She is one of the main founders of the Welsh group Fibre Art Wales, and her work has been exhibited in numerous group exhibtions. Her pieces are part of several public collections in the United Kingdom and the United States such as that at the Museum of Art and Design (MAD) in New York, as well as in several private collections in Europe, the United States and Japan.
Bethan Ash has received a prize at the National Eisteddgod Awards twice in 1994 and in 2008.
