Biography

Gill Bustamante is a bestselling internationally known artist based in East Sussex, England who specializes in painting her ‘memory impressions’ in oils on large canvases. This occurs after having walked somewhere and observed the landscapes, seascapes, underwater views, woodland scenes, trees, birds, wildlife, animals and fish she encounters. Her painting style ranges from ethereal, magical realism, semi-abstract, art nouveau, spiritual and traditional as she aims to capture the ‘essences’ of the things she sees plus any more mystical elements she sometimes perceives. Her style is totally unique.

Graduating from Brighton in 1982 with a Fine Art degree, Gill has been an independent artist since then to the present day. She exhibits and sells mostly online and from her home studio and occasionally with other artists in shared exhibitions.

In 2020 Gill became the award-winning artist in UK TV’s BBC1 program ‘Home is Where the Art Is’ (which can still be seen on BBC iPlayer). Her art has been featured in TV ads and in many online or magazine publications and via art licensing companies. She retains her independent artist status rather than becoming a galleried artist as this better suits her lifestyle and simple love of either walking in the countryside or painting it.
