The depiction of the naked human body in art is, for many artists, a way to express the beauty of the human body as well as feelings and emotions. The depiction of the nude in art is an ancient tradition; the earliest known depiction of a nude figure, a small sculpture carved from a woolly mammoth tusk, dates back 35,000 years.
