Presentation
Born in Roccagloriosa (SA) in 1955, Antonio Barrella is an internationally renowned, award-winning photographer specializing in fashion, still life and advertising.
Among the most important clients stand out Swarovski, Brioni, Gattinoni, Altaroma, Procter&Gamble and above all Bulgari. It is precisely by collaborating with Bulgari for approximately 28 years continuously that he specializes in jewelry and accessories, taking care of much of the photographic production, useful for catalogues, advertising campaigns, books and exhibitions.
In 1989 the business developed to the point that he decided to found today's Studio Orizzonte Gallery, which soon became one of the most important structures in Rome, able to provide all the services for Image and Video, and everything that entails currently, with precision and timeliness.
Since 1997 he has been Coordinator and Scientific Consultant of the Photography Department of the IED - European Institute of Design, where he has been teaching shooting techniques since 1983, the same year of his diploma. There are countless publications in magazines, both mainstream and for connoisseurs (from Vogue to Marie Claire, passing through Wad, Flux...), in catalogs and collector's books.
His commitment to the category led him to become National President of Photography and Video for CNA, President of Federitaly Arte e Immagine, as well as a member of the WPC organizing committee, Captain of the Italian WPC - World Photographic Cup Team and judge for the European qualifiers at the EFF Finland. After all, he is the only one in Italy, and one of the only three in Europe to hold two Master qualifications from FEP - European Federation of Professional Photographers.
His profession, constantly at the highest levels, has allowed him to come into contact and often collaborate with many of the Masters of Italian creativity: artists, photographers, stylists, designers, architects... becoming an integral part of them in his own right.
Over the course of his career, which is still vibrant today, Barrella stands out not only as an artist for both personal and collective exhibitions, including at important museums, but accumulates a list of experiences covering various other roles: curator of exhibitions of various artists, for example “Down Click" on behalf of the AIPD Association of People with Down Syndrome and the Municipality of Rome; speaker at various conferences and internships at La Sapienza in Rome and the Polytechnic of Milan; Visual and Light Designer for several concerts.
Music remains, in fact, his first great passion, having performed on the stages of Milan for ten years as a professional drummer, among the youngest and most talented of the time, before his very first photographic experience in 1980 at an important Milanese studio.
A few years later the definitive move to Rome, where he still lives and works today with his daughter Simona, also herself a photographer for Studio Orizzonte Gallery.
