Post-Impressionismus
Der Post-Impressionismus war eine künstlerische Bewegung, die vor allem in Frankreich zwischen 1886 und 1905 entstand. Diese Jahre markieren die letzte Ausstellung der Impressionisten und den Beginn des Fauvismus. Der Post-Impressionismus entstand als Reaktion auf die impressionistische Kunst, die Licht und Farbe auf naturalistische Weise darstellte. Stattdessen bevorzugten die post-impressionistischen Künstler leuchtende, unnatürliche Farben und betonten die malerischen Qualitäten ihrer Werke. Außerdem verwendeten sie häufig geometrische und verzerrte Formen, die ihre Abkehr vom Naturalismus noch verstärkten.
Der Post-Impressionismus unterschied sich vom Impressionismus durch sein Ziel, durch die Kunst Gefühle auszudrücken und nicht nur visuelle Eindrücke zu vermitteln. Sie neigten oft zur Abstraktion und zum Symbolismus. Allerdings lehnten die Postimpressionisten den Impressionismus nicht völlig ab. Sie verwendeten weiterhin verschiedene impressionistische Elemente wie das Malen nach dem Leben und die Impasto-Technik, bei der die Farbe dick aufgetragen wird, um ihre Textur zu zeigen.
Zu den führenden Künstlern des Postimpressionismus gehören Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat und Paul Cézanne. Die Bewegung umfasst verschiedene Kunststile und Bewegungen wie Les Nabis, Neoimpressionismus, Symbolismus, die Pont-Aven-Schule und Synthetismus. Dies spiegelt die stilistische Vielfalt der post-impressionistischen Kunst wider.
