From the river bank
Barcelona From October 25, 2020 to December 27, 2020
Presentation
The series From the river bank is the result of summer evenings by a watercourse, reflecting on life’s currents and events. This ensemble emanates from mental constructions around heraclitan well-known quotes such as “everything flows” and “no man steps in the same river twice.” From these ideas, images are depurated, geometry is created, contrasts emerge. It all gets translated over paper. Some elements in this series are organic, intuitive, like nature. Others are rational, sharp, calculated, persuasive. They invite viewers to imagine the abstraction of dams, bridges, canals, modern architecture: men taking over wilderness, getting lost and found, in motion, searching for strategies. What can escape from a labyrinth? And how? We attempt to control the circulation of waters, creating space within space. Essential questions are left, at the river bank: if this was a chess game, who wins? The answers are always for viewers to determine.
The techniques used are lithography, xylography and collage. The materials: Arakaji natural papers, over the support of a 300g Somerset paper. Except for piece number 6: japan paper of 75g. From the river bank, consists of six pieces.
