The nude is an artistic tradition where the human body is represented unclothed.
In some of the earliest instances of the nude in art, it was only gods, supernatural beings and spirits in human form who would be represented nude. In most cases, the term means 'derobed', and therefore the figures are not considered wholly 'naked'.
