Biography

Karen Axikyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1963. He has always loved art and lives there. At different periods of his life, Karen Axikyan was interested in different spheres of art. First he drew oil paintings, then he started painting beautiful batik scarves, and then he moved on to the amazing world of sculptures.

In short, he is interested in everything related to art. For the past 15 years, he has been creating metal sculptures. It is said that he has a huge zoo with his different and wild animals. As Karen Axikyans says, he does not decide which animal what type of emotion the sculpture should have, he decides its emotion. Without having any cultural education, he was always in art, the only education he received was the artist who was his neighbor and he generally spent his time following the artists' works.

Karen Axikyan says metal is an instrument through which she can convey her emotional states. When creating a sculpture, her soul seems to be cleansed. Her latest collection is called "Little World" because the sculptures are so small they can fit in the palm of her hand.
