Biography

Susan Gale is a Canadian artist born in 1977 in Stephenville, Newfoundland. She studied painting at the College of Art and Design of Nova Scotia from 2000 to 2004 and obtained a Barchelor in Fine Arts. In 2005, she moved to Toronto where she dedicated professionally to painting.

Susan's work explores the nostalgia of the community by emphasizing on the juxtaposition between the peaceful and tranquil mystery of light and visually invoked sensations. She explores the sensitivity an image evokes by manipulating the shape, the surface and the palette to exaggerate the elements such as color, framing and texture of each painting. By using rich tones and a playful pixilation, his work seeks to study a space between abstraction and the representation of a communicative space.

Susan's unique aesthetic is the dominant subject in her work. Her work consists in capturing urban landscapes and images of everyday places and assigning them a subjective graphic sense. In this form of expression, gestures and forms give the impression of being transported to these places.
