Biography

Catherine Ursin was born in 1963 in La Flèche.

she puts the "body" at the heart of her work. Bodies drawn, sculpted, photographed, bodies sexed, violent, tortured. Powerful and brutal body to body of parietal goddesses and sidereal monsters. From the pictorial gestures on the floor to the experience of performance, the body remains in perpetual motion. In a frantic rhythm, Catherine Ursin crosses techniques retaining only the power of red and the depth of black. Borders are breaking down and space is occupied. It deploys its hybrid human forms, connects opposites, reconciles antinomies and oxymors. Between cruelty and benevolence, she projects her painting as an attempt at healing, draws energy from exchanges and invites accomplices to play to a dancing catharsis.
