Biography

Philip HJ Gay was born in Gloucester, United Kingdom, but grew up between England and Paris. His interest in photography began while studying film and English literature at the University of London.

During his career as a portrait and fashion photographer, Philip has shot editorials and covers for some of the world's most prestigious magazines, such as Zoo, iD, Purple, Arena Homme +, V Magazine, Mixt( E), Muse, Numéro Berlin, Numéro Tokyo, Elle, GQ, Vogue Hommes International, Interview, as well as numerous editions of Vogue, including France, Germany, the United States, Russia, Spain and the 'Ukraine. He has also worked for Bazaar in the United States, Spain and Japan.

Her profiles have appeared in magazines and newspaper supplements around the world, including The Guardian, The Telegraph and Spin Magazine, and include actors such as Kristen Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Isabelle Huppert, Golshifteh Farahani, James Mcavoy, Laetitia Casta, Vanessa Paradis, Joan Collins, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Maiwenn, Pascal Greggory, Mélanie Laurent, Louis Garrel, Tahar Rahim, Hugh Grant, Mark Ruffalo and Léa Seydoux.

Philip has also photographed numerous musicians, including Dua Lipa, Angèle, Albert Hammond Jr, Etienne Daho, Air, Jarvis Cocker, Lou Doillon, Carla Bruni, MGMT, New Order, Vanessa Paradis and Jane Birkin. He has also photographed tennis stars like Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner.

Its commercial clients include brands such as Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Martin Margiela, Levi's, Persol, Sephora, L'Oréal, Elizabeth Arden and Cartier.

In 2021, Philip began directing music videos and writing fiction screenplays. His first short film is expected to be released in early 2024.

He currently lives and works in Paris.
