Biography
Born in 1967, Sophie FERAUD is an artist who graduated from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. She lives and works in the South of France.
Her artistic creation deals with the theme of men and their "attitudes" in everyday life.
She orients herself, work after work, towards a free, minimalist figuration, accentuated by the technique where perfection is the rule.
Her 3D paintings play on the contrast between the matt nature of the wooden elements at different thicknesses and the brightness of the resin that she applies manually to the background.
Her creation is focused on movement, rhythmics. To do this, it uses static geometric elements reminiscent of our architectural structures. Its "asexual pictos" are frozen in the resin.
Sophie FERAUD accentuates the dynamics of her work by letting light play on the volumes and by using the spectator's own reflection. She adds symbolism by flirting with street art on precise volumes, enhanced with flashy and generous colours. And she reinforces her theme with the creation of optical illusions. Her technique is based on relief paintings, composed of wooden elements in different thicknesses, spray painted.
