Biography
Laurence Amélie, daughter of renowned Swiss abstract painter Gérard Schneider, continues the family tradition of painting following a successful career as Creative Director and fashion designer of Bon Point in Paris.
Laurence paints from her idyllic country setting near Fontainebleau. It is the house where her father, a contemporary of Picasso, painted during the highly active mid-century abstract period.
Laurence Amelie's work is the result of many days of preparation, she prepares tones and colors to give the required depth to her paintings. She is inspired by nature, seasons, light and the changes in flower colors through evolution.
In each of her paintings, she has a gift to portray a feeling of movement in her flowers, as if there was a permanent light breeze in the countryside of her paintings. This gives a romantic look to her work.
