France • 1993
Presentation
Born in Portugal, Fabio arrives in France in his early teens with in his luggage, his artist's soul and his taste for art that has been in him since his early childhood.
Whether at home, at school or even on a bus, he quickly learns to draw and reproduce graffiti in the graphic world around him.
Over time this distraction becomes his passion, and it is quite naturally that Fabio becomes interested in painting. The perfect escape to express what he feels. A true outlet, he finds his style and inspiration in artists such as Cy Twonbly, Basquiat, Mondrian or Keith Haring.
Throughout his evolution and without ever showing his work, it is alone with his creations from his little corner set up in his studio that Fabio takes possession of his own artistic universe.
His sensitivity and his look towards art leads him to use various working techniques, so it is as a true creator that he finds the need to crumple, cut, glue, hole, tear, tear, tap, splash... All these actions are essential in his daily work. Fabio likes to mix materials at the end of their life to bring them back to life, mix a wooden plank with a bed sheet, and let his imagination go astray.
The simple white canvas is not a priority for the moment, and it is from there that one understands and finds a true artist who needs to go as far as to create his own supports.
