Etcaetera is the joint signature of two painters and visual artists.
Cathie Berthon and Vicent Gachaga, who share a common vision about the urban subject. Cathie Berthon was born in 1968. An engineer by profession, she decided to dedicate solely to painting in 2005. Vincent Gachaga was born in 1959. After practicing various professions in the field of communication, he turned to painting in 2005.
On the canvas, this urban subject which is precious to both, is treated in a purified and architectural way. The Haussmannian façades of timeless charm as well as the most avant-garde architectures are approached from a new perspective. A very graphic writting combining photography and painting, with voluntarily rectified and purified visuals, where painting highlights and punctuates the essential.
Their creations the "Froissés" are firmly anchored in the urban landscape. Their method consist in diverting and recycling advertising posters to take the best out of it and give life and color to mythical icons, cult objects of the twentieth century, and street scenes. Especial attention is given to the harmonious combination of the subject and the background of the poster. They thus create a very contemporary pictorial writting where recovery and innovative printing techniques combine, to create astonishing pieces that are mixtures of paintings and sculptures.
