Presentation

Gérard Gosselin was born in Quettehou in the Manche in 1933. At a very young age he painted landscapes, then worked after Delacroix, Rubens, Léger, Picasso, Juan Gris... In 1951, he exhibited for the first time, invited by the Cherbourg School of Fine Arts to the Salon de l'Ecole Française in Paris. Around 1957, after meeting Marcel Gromaire, his work turned towards a more constructed more constructed form.

Gérard Gosselin creates a plastic vocabulary whose signs develop towards a more and more gestural abstraction. more and more gestural. The female body and the telluric elements (water, air, fire...) are the source of his painting, which by a slow process rejects figurative forms.
