Biography
A Ghanaian native, sculptor and painter Serge Attukwei Clottey was born in 1985, and graduated with a Doctor of Arts from the University of Brighton, UK, in 2019. His use of miscellaneous everyday items, found around his hometown of Accra, creates a visual communication between the artist's work and his strong sense of cultural identity and heritage. Rendering these ordinary objects as canvases upon which he creates his art, Clottey has made use of car tyres, boat wood and, most recognizably, bright yellow gallon containers.
His work has featured across the globe, most notably in his native Ghana, Gallery 1957 in London, and the UTA Artist Space is Los Angeles, California.
