Biography
André Kertész was a Hungarian photographer and visual artist, whose groundbreaking contributions to photographic composition and the “photo essay” rendered him a seminal figure of 20th century photography. Emigrating to the United States at the dawn of the Second World War, the artist garnered international critical acclaim for his unorthodox photo angles and photographic studies of popular locations and the human form.
Today, Kertész is remembered for his contributions to photography, both as a journalism and as an art form. The artist died in 1985 in New York City.
