After studying scenography in Tokyo at Musashino Art University in Tokyo, Maiko Kobayashi spent six months in the UK before graduating with a Masters in Artistic Practice at the School of Arts and Social Sciences in Newcastle. It was in 2002 that her work attracted the Tokyo art scene with a group exhibition held at Omotesando Gallery, Tokyo where she exhibited several of her works. Since then, Maiko Kobayashi has not stopped exhibiting, whether in China or Japan.
