Presentation

Robert Bubel - born in 1968 in Żarki near Częstochowa, studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, obtained his diploma in the studio of prof. Zbigniew Grzybowski in 1997.

His exhibitions in Poland and Europe are highly appreciated by the public and critics.

Robert Bubel's painting is authentic and uncompromising, mature and fully defined, describing the real world, often conquered with a note of melancholy and reflection over the relentless process of passing. His alla prima painting gesture flawlessly describes the form and in the freshness of the colors the artist is able to capture a real glow of light. In his painting, the artist constantly tells new stories, the paintings spontaneously arrange themselves into multithreaded series, with different artistic expressiveness. We could call his painting a term created for Impressionism - "the painting of modern life" - because it introduces the reality of "here and now", puts us in front of the truth and reality of everyday life. And this is one of the essential features of Robert Bubel's artistic expression - sensitivity towards our world, its new iconography, towards its accelerated pace, where the world is framed through the window of a moving car, where the painter hastily notices the stretched lights of passing street lamps, multi-lane arteries, viaducts, park, airport. But at the same time, in this impressionally recorded present on the canvases, there are moments of reflection on one's own identity, a look at what has already gone forever, when the sapphire light casts a shadow in the abandoned rooms of the family home, and the silence prevailing there takes us under its power.

You can enter this space recalled from "lost time", you can tiptoe backwards so as not to scare the butterfly glued to the glass, you can not say a word. The artist himself tries to define this state: “Painting, in my understanding, is an extremely subjective statement. It is based on our individual experience. It is memory, recollection, imagination and the painterly language of the artist that are the building blocks of this statement. I think that the more personal the painter's statement is, the more local and subjective it is, the greater, paradoxically, is the chance that it will be strongly received by the viewer. It reaches for this baggage of stored views on reality, which in its emotional strength can unexpectedly create a plane of understanding, perception, communication. It can touch the strings that have been silent until now, which will evoke the memory of feelings, images or imaginations carried in the memory of the recipients. In this way, the image becomes a universal representation. That, at any rate, is my deep conviction." /Robert Bubel, 2017/
